Protective masks online shop Switzerland
With us you can buy hygiene masks for infection protection that effectively keep the coronavirus away. Face masks are also the most important measure against the latest virus variants Omikron BA.4 and BA.5.
Protective masks in the corona pandemic
The coronavirus is unlikely to disappear, and neither will the protective masks we wear in everyday life. It is constantly mutating, most recently the variants Omikron BA.4 and BA.5 were observed, which spread particularly quickly. Private individuals, but also companies, therefore buy protective masks from us in different variants such as FFP2 masks, face masks, type 2R surgical masks and also as type IIR hygiene masks. Particle-filtering half masks such as FFP2 and FFP-3 masks and type IIR medical face masks provide the best protection. You can buy this type 2R face mask from us at a particularly favourable price. Type IIR surgical masks have the highest certification of all disposable masks and have a BFE ≥ 98%. These surgical masks offer splash protection against droplets containing pathogens.
Protection against infection thanks to protective masks
Employees in the healthcare, food and cosmetics industries have been wearing type 2R face masks for some time now. However, since the emergence of the coronavirus, face masks have become even more important. It has now been shown that FFP masks in particular are very effective as face masks and are effective against droplet infection of all coronavirus variants - including against Omikron BA.4 and BA.5. It is important to wear protective masks correctly. Experts repeatedly point this out. Both the surgical masks of type IIR and the FFP2 masks as mouth-nose protection are only really effective when the strap is closed over the nose.
Protective masks are used to protect against harmful pollutants or pathogens such as bacteria and viruses. They are mainly used where it is necessary to prevent these respiratory toxins from entering the human body. However, protective masks are not only used as surgical masks or hygiene masks in the medical field, e.g. in operating theatres or in nursing, they are also used by the fire brigade, the police, the military and in workplaces where hazardous substances are distributed in high concentrations through the air. Protective masks are also used in semiconductor production, where contamination of surfaces that need to be kept clean must be prevented.
Mouth and nose protection (MNS)
A face mask, often also called a medical face mask or hygiene mask, is a single or multi-layer protective mask for the mouth and nose, which is fixed to the back of the head with ties or elastic bands or with highly elasticated ear loops. In the centre of the upper edge, an optionally integrated metal bracket ensures that the face mask is pressed against the bridge of the nose, thus keeping the field of vision clear and restricting the upward escape of breathing air. The face mask should be disposed of after a single use. Special hygienic masks suitable for repeated use can be reused after appropriate decontamination.
FFP protective masks
FFP protective masks are particle-filtering half masks designed to prevent harmful substances from entering the respiratory tract. The abbreviation FFP stands for "filtering face piece". FFP masks are often also referred to as fine dust masks, respiratory protection masks or dust masks and are used to reduce aerosol particles and dust in the inhaled air. The performance of the corresponding FFP masks is certified and categorised into three different classes. FFP respirators differ from face masks mainly in that they contain a respiratory protection filter. They are usually made entirely of non-woven material and enclose the mouth and nose, while the eye area remains uncovered.
FFP protective masks are divided into three different classes. The classification is based on the filter performance of the respirator. This results from the overall leakage of a protective mask, which in turn is determined by the permeability of the filter material, the leakage at the exhalation valve and the openings in places where the protective mask does not sit exactly on the face. An FFP1 mask therefore offers less protection, while the FFP3 mask also explicitly protects against viruses and bacteria. FFP2 is considered standard protection and is suitable for working environments in which harmful and mutagenic substances are present in the air we breathe. This also includes liquid aerosols that transmit the coronavirus, for example.
An FFP1 mask may have a leakage of up to 25 per cent. However, FFP1 masks are not suitable for use in the medical sector, as only non-toxic and fibrogenic dusts are repelled. FFP1 masks are particularly recommended for use in the food industry and in construction.
FFP2 or FFP3 respirators offer significantly better protection than FFP1 masks and are also used in medical facilities. At least 94 per cent of particles up to 0.6 μm in size must be captured by the FFP2 or FFP3 respirator in order to meet the specifications. However, FFP2 and FFP3 masks are not exclusively a medical product; respirators are also used in mines or in metalworking.
Class | Filter performance | Protection against |
---|---|---|
FFP-1 | At least 80% of particles up to 0.6 μm | Fine dust, smoke and aerosols based on water and oil (planing, cleaning work, use in case of pollen allergy) |
FFP-2 | At least 94% of particles up to 0.6 μm | Harmful and carcinogenic water- and oil-based dusts (grinding, cutting and drilling cement, wood, steel, etc., handling mould or bacteria/viruses of risk group 2) |
FFP-3 | At least 99.5% of particles up to 0.6 μm | Harmful and carcinogenic water- and oil-based dusts (grinding, cutting and drilling high-alloy steel, working with asbestos and diesel fumes, handling mould or bacteria/viruses of risk group 3) |
For hygienic reasons, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer, FFP masks are generally only intended for single use for a maximum of 8 hours. In the medical field, FFP2 masks should preferably be worn when caring for and directly treating infected patients.
FFP2 masks - effective protection against the coronavirus
According to studies, protective masks are the most effective protection against all current coronavirus variants. They not only protect against the alpha and delta strains, but also against mutations such as Omikron and BA.4 and BA.5.
For billions of people worldwide, FFP2 masks have been a constant companion for many months to protect against infection with the coronavirus, especially in the medical field.
Buy FFP2 masks
It is also currently worth buying these particle-filtering half masks to protect yourself against current variants such as Omikron and BA.4 and BA.5 and to stock up on protective masks for the coming cold season. Leading epidemiologists and medical experts point out that the particle-filtering half-mask is seen in all forecasts and modelling calculations as a very sensible protective measure against a contraction with potential new coronavirus mutations. It therefore makes sense to buy protective masks now, especially FFP2 masks in larger quantities.
The main advantages of FFP2 masks:
- High level of personal protection against infection
- easy handling
- good availability
Although the dynamics of the pandemic have changed, the pandemic as such is not yet over. FFP2 masks remain an effective measure to protect your own health and the health of others
Face mask type IIR / surgical masks
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and the various variants (e.g. Omikron, BA.4 and BA.5), wearing medical face masks has been part of everyone's everyday life. First and foremost, face masks reduce the transmission of pathogens, harmful pollutants and viruses so that infection with the coronavirus can be prevented as far as possible.
However, do not buy simple fabric masks. When purchasing face masks, make sure that they are type 2R surgical masks or type IIR face masks, as only these comply with European testing standards and are also DIN EN 14683:2019 certified. Type IIR face masks aim to reduce droplet infections and filter aerosols from the wearer's breathing air thanks to their multi-layer fleece. This means that infection from other people can be prevented as far as possible. The medical face mask provides protection against all types of viruses, guaranteeing protection against both the previously widespread Omikron variant of the coronavirus and the recently spreading BA.4 and BA.5 variants.
With the face mask type IIR, you are buying an everyday companion for maintaining your personal health. In addition to the face mask's high filtration efficiency of almost 98%, the face mask type IIR also impresses with its pleasant wearing comfort. Easy and comfortable breathing, even during physical exertion, and a good oxygen supply are ensured at all times.
