Pelvis model of a 5-year-old child
Pelvis model of a 5-year-old child
Size: approx. 10 x 15 cm
This pelvis comes from the skeleton of an average 5-year-old. The age was verified by the pattern of tooth eruption and the stage of development of the individual bones. Sex determination by skeletal material is based on changes in the skeleton that take place in the pelvis and skull during puberty and therefore have not yet begun in a 5-year-old. The pubic bone, ilium and ischium are still completely separate, but the ramus ischiopubicus is approaching the time of fusion (it fuses at the age of 5 to 8 years).
