The history of Master Tung acupuncture
Acupuncture according to Master Tung has its origins in the Han dynasty. The method was only passed down from generation to generation through family tradition. The last member of this family tradition was Master Tung Ching Chang (1916 - 1975). Master Tung was born in the municipality of PingDu, Shandong Province. In 1949, he followed the then President Chiang Kai-Shek to Taiwan. During this time, he successfully applied his method to thousands of patients in the military hospital. From 1960 to 1975, he practised as a private doctor in Taipei. During this time, he trained a total of 73 direct students. Dr Young Wei-Chieh was one of these direct students. Master Tung published the book Tung's Regular Meridians and Points in 1973. Other English books on Master Tung acupuncture were published by Dr Young Wei-Chieh: Tung's Acupuncture Points Study, Tung's Acupuncture Therapeutic System, Illustrated Tung's Acupuncture points.
Forewords
When I was introduced to the acupuncture method of Master Tung in Los Angeles years ago by Dr Young Wei-Chieh, my thoughts about acupuncture therapy changed completely. The highly effective method with just a few needles for pain treatment through meridian balance made me forget my 30 years of acupuncture expertise. Prof F. Bahr, who taught me RAC-controlled acupuncture, motivated me to write this book.
It explains the 100 most important acupuncture points according to Master Tung with indications and proven point combinations based on my experience. This book serves to simplify Master Tung's many years of clinical experience.
Dr med. univ. (A) Sandi Suwanda
Honorary Professor Beijing University of Chinese Medicine
Küsnacht, in October 2020
It is a perfect, indeed perfect fit that Dr Sandi Suwanda is now following up the creation of the new map of the most important Master Tung points with a book for application.
I congratulate him on this and wish this special form of acupuncture a wide distribution.
There is obviously already a community of users of Master Tung's teachings in Germany, Switzerland and Austria who have been waiting for German-language documentation for these teachings: now the first step has been taken with the map and the second with this book.
I wish all Master Tung followers and other interested parties an interesting read and a successful later application involving the lower energy meridian.
